In order to explore the relationship between psychological capital, achievement motivation
and career interest, a survey of 597 undergraduates from a university in Sichuan was conducted using
the psychological capital scale, achievement motivation scale and career interest scale. The results show:
(1) The scores of psychological capital and achievement motivation of college students are both at the
upper-middle level, and the scores of career interest are social, artistic, natural, business, conventional,
and research in order from the highest to the bottom;(2) Psychological capital is significantly positively
correlated with the pursuit of success and career interest, and is significantly negatively correlated with
avoiding failure, and the pursuit of success is significantly positively correlated with career interest;(3)
The pursuit of success has a significant mediating effect between psychological capital and various types
of career interests. Psychological capital can directly predict career interests, and it can also predict career
interests through the mediating effect of achievement motivation.
