To explore the role of class group counseling based on expressive art therapy
on interpersonal relationship among college students and enrich the model of group
counseling in colleges and universities. Methods: Two classes were randomly selected as an experimental group and a control group from a university in Southwest China.
The experimental group was given regular class group counselings of expressive art
therapy, the interpersonal relationship status of the experimental group and the control
group were measured by The Interpersonal Relationship Comprehensive Diagnostic
Scale at the early stage of group counseling as well as in the middle and end of group
counseling. Results: (1) The scores of the experimental group in the post-test were
significantly lower than those of the control group; (2) and the scores of communication
and communication sub-dimensions were significantly decreased, and the other sub-
dimensions were tend to decrease. Conclusion: Group counseling can effectively
improve the interpersonal relationship of college students, and the ability to make
friends and communicate is significant.
