Getting Out of the Circle of “Not Wanting to Learn” —A Case Study of Counseling Anxious Middle School Students Based on the Perspective of Home-School Collaboration
This case reports on a second-year junior high school girl who took a leave of absence for treatment due to a physical illness and was unable to keep up with her studies after returning to school, resulting in a low sense of achievement and self-efficacy, and finally falling into a “vicious circle” of not wanting to study because she couldn’t study well. With the main goal of alleviating the student’ aversion to school and improving her self-efficacy, from the perspective of home-school collaboration, sand table therapy was used to explore the root causes of the student’ school boredom, alleviate internal conflicts and conflicts, and combined with short-term techniques to improve her learning status and self-efficacy. After eight sessions of counseling, the client’s depression and anxiety levels were significantly reduced, and her learning enthusiasm was significantly improved, basically achieving the expected results.
