This study aims to explore the current situation of physiological and psychological changes and family support among perimenopausal women in Macao. Using qualitative interview methods, the study reveals significant changes in physiological (such as hot flashes, irregular menstruation, decreased sleep quality) and psychological (such as emotional fluctuations, anxiety) aspects experienced by perimenopausal women, as well as the impact of these changes on their daily lives and well-being. The study finds that family support plays a crucial role in helping perimenopausal women adapt to this stage. Understanding, tolerance, and assistance from family members, especially in managing emotional fluctuations and sharing household responsibilities, contribute to improving their quality of life. Although Macao society generally holds a relatively harmonious understanding and attitude towards perimenopausal women, there is still room for improvement, particularly in terms of promoting awareness and education about perimenopause. The research results emphasize the importance of translating research findings into practical applications and recommend that policymakers and community service providers develop and implement education, support, and resource allocation strategies tailored-made for perimenopausal women based on the research findings.
