Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is an effective treatment in adult
patients with schizophrenia. However, adolescents with early-onset psychosis may be
particularly in need of multimodal intervention. A case of hospitalized patient with
early-onset psychosis was presented and comprehensive treatment programs were
provided in an inpatient Settings, showing cognitive and behavioral interventions
for symptoms and work with families to promote self-esteem and emotional identity.
Results demonstrated that the patients' symptoms were under control and CBT
helped to correct schemata-linked habitual reaction patterns in thinking and behavior
through belief examination and prediction. The patients' cognitive, emotional, self-
esteem and family relationships were improved. In conclusion, it is feasible to carry
out CBT therapy and family intervention for hospitalized adolescent patients with
schizophrenia.
