Social anxiety is a strong fear of social situations where one may feel judged, often accompaniedby avoidance behavior. College campuses are often highly social environments, and college studentsare at high risk for social anxiety. A psychological counseling case for a university student was reportedin this paper. To address the client’s social anxiety issues and depression, 16 counseling sessions wereconducted using case conceptualization, cognitive reconstructing techniques such as the downward arrow, Socrates dialogue, pie chart, recognition and correction of cognitive distortions, and behavioral exposuretechniques. The presentation of counseling techniques and process accumulated technical experience andcase data for psychological counseling for university students.
