This is a case report on the use of MET to deal with resentment caused by interpersonal relationships. The target symptom was lower abdominal obstruction (feelings of resentment). The first symbolic object was a ball of flesh with a cloud of air wrapped in the center. The counselor considered the symbolic object as the combination of life events and target symptoms. During the subsequent moving process, the symbolic object returned to cause trouble. The counselor guided the client to generate another symbolic object to better suit the new situation in the second MET process. The impact score decreased from 10 points to 0 points, and the follow-up after one week was 3 points. This article focuses on the operation process of MET, hoping to provide some reference for counselors who encounter similar situations in the future.
