This article is a case report on the application of cognitive behavioral therapy to solve emotional problems. The visitor was a freshman. Because he was separated from his parents when he was young and did not establish a good parent-child attachment, the parent-child relationship was strained, which led to family conflicts. After attending college, anxiety and depression became prominent. The client had four consultations in total. The consultant used the methods of identifying dysfunctional thoughts and assigning homework in cognitive behavioral therapy technology to let the client gradually master a reasonable and well-functioning thinking mode and seek ways and means to actively relieve stress. The results were relatively significant. The client was able to realize his/her dysfunctional thinking, and his/her anxiety and depression decreased significantly. After a year’s return visit, the tension between the visitors and their parents has eased, and now they can spend a long time alone with their parents. This paper records the consultation process in detail and evaluates the case.
