This study is a case study of an adolescent with social withdrawal problems (commonly called a “hidden adolescent”) in Macau. It was verified that the application of Adler’s Psychology (also known as Individual Psychology) and Reality Therapy help to reduce the level of social withdrawal and deviant behavior in youth. The results of the therapy are related to the individual’s selfawareness, and are influenced by three aspects: individual, family and the social interest. It was found that peer interaction in school and social interest outside the school could effectively reduce social withdrawal. On the contrary, low selfefficacy and poor parent-child communication would further influence social withdrawal. Finally, this study proposed to provide case studies on the practice and implications of parental education in the future and advocated for parental education for adolescents and parents.
