Social anxiety disorder is a common psychological disorder that seriously hinders the normal life of patients in today’s society. At present, individual cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is considered to be one of the most effective therapies. Taking the cognitive behavior model of social anxiety disorder as the theoretical background, combined with motivational interview technology, this paper expects to preliminarily explore the case analysis and consultation process for college students’ social anxiety disorder through the case consultation of College Students’ social anxiety disorder. On the basis of a complete and detailed case conceptualization of the patients, eight sessions of motivational interviewing combined with CBT were conducted. The results showed that the Liebowitz Social Anxiety Scale (LSAS) score decreased from 48 to 26, indicating that the initial counseling goal had been achieved. This case report suggests that a combination of motivational interviewing, cognitive reconstruction, and exposure therapy can be used in counseling for social anxiety disorder.
