Objective: To explore the influence of parental rearing style on College Students’ interpersonal
trust and its psychological mechanism. Methods: 577 college students in some colleges and universities
in Guangxi were investigated by parental rearing style questionnaire, interpersonal trust scale and
adult attachment scale. Results: (1) interpersonal trust was positively correlated with parental rejection
(r = 0.236; P<0.01), attachment anxiety (r = 0.618; P<0.01), and negatively correlated with parental
emotional warmth (r = -0.580; P<0.01), parental overprotection (r = -0.370; P<0.01), attachment
closeness (r = -0.601; P<0.01) and attachment dependence (r = -0.586; P<0.01); (2) Parental rearing
style can directly predict interpersonal trust, and adult attachment plays an intermediary role between
parental rearing style and college students’ interpersonal trust. Conclusion: parental rearing style can not
only directly affect college students’ interpersonal trust level, but also indirectly affect college students’
interpersonal trust level through adult attachment.
