This is a real case of borderline personality disorder from American psychotherapist Deborah’s
case collection Schopenhauer’s Porcupines. This case lasted for fourteen years, involving several subjects,
and the therapist recorded the process and details of the whole case. In this paper, the case is divided into
six stages according to the patient’s internal integration process. The process and details of transference
and countertransference of patient and therapist in each stage are analyzed from the perspective of
Transference-Focused Therapy (TFP) model based on the text.
