Suicide is an important harmful factor that influences the mental and physical development
of young people. Suicidal ideation is the early psychological activity of suicide death. Exploring the
influence mechanism of suicide ideation in adolescents is an effective means to prevent suicide death.
Based on the theory of psychological separation, this article briefly reviews the influence of adolescents’
suicidal ideation from the perspectives of separation—individualization and family system differentiation,
emphasizing that if the development task of individual psychological separation of adolescents cannot
be successfully completed, self—conflict may occur, and then suicidal ideation appears. Therefore,
psychological separation plays an important role in the growth of adolescents. Finally, a research outlook
is put forward in order to provide reflections on future research.
