To investigated the mental health status and psychological service needs of college students
during the COVID-19, and provide references for colleges and universities to carry out mental health
work. We adopted the experimental design of the experimental group and the control group, both
were pre and post tested. Then we tested the group satisfaction of the experimental group, in order to
understand the intervention effect of a unit network group counseling on the psychological symptoms
of college students during the epidemic period, and the satisfaction of a unit network group counseling.
Results:1. During the epidemic of COVID-19, 81.7% of the subjects adapted well, but college students
scored higher in depression, irritation, anxiety, fear and obsessive-compulsive factors, 2.57% of college
students were willing to participate in online group counseling. and the themes they most want to
participate in online group counseling are stress, time management, meaning of life and anxiety. 3. After
online group counseling, the total scores of hypochondria, fear, obsessive-compulsive and psychological
symptoms in the experimental group were significantly lower than those before intervention, and the
scores of fear and obsessive-compulsive in the experimental group were lower than those in the control
group, online group counseling has obvious intervention effect on the physical and mental conditions of
college students, such as hypochondria, fear, compulsion and so on. 4. Group members are satisfied with
a unit network group counseling, especially for leaders’ leadership style, group atmosphere, trust and
honesty among members and high group satisfaction. Conclusions: A unit network group counseling
during the epidemic of COVID-19 is beneficial to the physical and mental health of college students.
Under the background of the normalization of epidemic prevention and control, one-unit network group
counseling is a kind of psychological counseling which is worth popularizing.
