Objective: To investigate the suicidal behavior of college students in epidemic
situation. Methods: A total of 19223 undergraduates from 87 majors in a college were
tested with the revised version of the suicide behavior questionnaire (SBQ-R). Results:
(1) The detection rate of suicidal ideation, suicide plan, suicide attempt, suicide threat
and suicide risk were 17.2%, 3.9%, 1.4%, 12.3%, 2.2% and 13.4% respectively. (2) There
were significant gender differences in life-long suicidal ideation / Suicide Plan / Suicide
Attempt, recent suicidal ideation, life-long suicide threat, potential future suicide and
overall suicide risk, and it’s all girls over boys. (3) There were no significant differences
in life-long suicidal ideation, short-term suicidal ideation, life-long suicidal threat,
future suicidal possibility and overall suicidal risk among college students. Conclusion:
The suicide behavior of college students decreased in epidemic situation. There were
significant gender differences in life-long suicidal ideation / Suicide Plan / Suicide
Attempt, recent suicidal ideation, life-long suicide threat, potential future suicide and
overall suicide risk.
