The Influence of Parental Phubbing Behavior on Children’s Learning Engagement in the Context of “Double Reduction” : The Chain-mediated Role of Positive Psychological Capital and Self-control
Objective: To explore the influence of parents’ lower head behavior on learning engagement under the background of “double reduction” policy, and the chain mediating role of self-control and positive psychological capital in this influence. Methods: 800 senior primary school students in Guangdong Province were investigated by parental phub-down behavior scale, self-control scale, positive psychological capital questionnaire and learning engagement scale. Results: (1)Parental phub-down behavior was negatively correlated with learning engagement and positive psychological capital, and positively correlated with self-control; Positive psychological capital is positively correlated with selfcontrol and learning engagement. (2)Parental phubbing behavior has predictive effects on learning engagement, positive psychological capital and self-control; Positive psychological capital has predictive effect on learning engagement; Self-control has predictive effect on positive psychological capital. (3)Parental phubbing behavior affects learning engagement through positive psychological capital; The effect of self-control and positive psychological capital on parental phub-down behavior on learning engagement was established as a chain mediator. Conclusion: In the context of “double reduction policy”, positive psychological capital and self-control have a chain mediating effect on the influence of parents’ lower head behavior on children’s learning engagement. Parental phub-down behavior can indirectly affect children’s learning engagement through positive psychological capital and self-control.
