Junior high school is an important stage in an individual’s lifelong development. With the completion of nineyear compulsory education, junior high school graduates are faced with the realistic issue of either continuing their studies or entering the workforce. Compared to Han ethnic junior high school students, those from ethnic minority areas often have a lower enrollment rate in senior high schools. This paper focuses on the influence of academic values, arguing that a passive and negative attitude towards academics can hinder students’ engagement in learning and their future career choices. It is hoped that the introduction of picture book education can enhance the positivity of students’, especially ethnic minority junior high school students’ academic values, and further guide them in career exploration, so that they can better face future career choices.
