This study systematically reviews the research achievements in the field of parental involvement in education. Firstly, it delves into the conceptual connotation and multidimensional structure of parental involvement from a theoretical perspective, and organizes representative measurement tools developed by domestic and international scholars along with their psychometric properties. Secondly, it integrates and analyzes the multidimensional impact of parental involvement on children’s development, including academic achievement, socio-emotional development, and mental health. The study also reveals several issues in the field, such as the heterogeneity of conceptual definitions, limitations in research methods, and insufficient cross-cultural applicability. Based on the shortcomings of existing research, this paper provides an outlook on future research directions, aiming to offer theoretical references for deepening the study of parental involvement, promoting the improvement of home-school collaborative education mechanisms, and ultimately advancing the comprehensive and healthy development of children and adolescents.
