The concept of “hero” constitutes a significant socio-cultural symbol that embodies noble spiritual values. The emerging phenomenon of “defaming heroes” in contemporary is not only an injustice to the individuals regarded as heroes but also a desecration of the spirit of heroes and a distortion of social values. This study analyzes the phenomenon of “defaming heroes” through theoretical frameworks including social semiotics, the bandwagon effect, cognitive dissonance theory, self-discrepancy theory, and narrative theory. The analysis reveals how defamatory discourse erodes the intrinsic heroic spirit in individuals. Furthermore, the paper proposes targeted psychological interventions to mitigate these detrimental effects.
