Purpose To examine the mediating roles of psychological distance and environmental concern in the relationship between time perspective and individual pro-environmental behavior. Methods A questionnaire survey was administered to 617 college students using the Time Perspective Scale, Psychological Distance Scale, Environmental Concern Scale, and Pro-environmental Behavior Scale. Results (1) Time perspective positively predicted individual pro-environmental behavior; (2)Psychological distance and environmental concern each played a mediating role between time perspective and pro-environmental behavior; (3)The chain mediating effect of psychological distance and environmental concern was significant. Conclusion Time perspective can indirectly predict individual proenvironmental behavior through the independent mediating roles of psychological distance and environmental concern, as well as the chain mediating effect of psychological distance and environmental concern.
