This article mainly analyzes the dream interpretation techniques in psychological counseling. Counselors from different theoretical schools have different methods. According to Freud's psychoanalytic theory, the latent meaning of dreams is analyzed through free association. Gestalt counselor Fritz Perls regards dreams as scripts and lets clients play the roles in the dream and have conversations. Medard Boss advocates “returning to the dream itself ”, that is, letting the dream phenomena “speak for themselves”. Michael Lennox puts forward a highly operable three-step method of dream interpretation. These dream interpretation techniques provide diverse approaches and perspectives for psychological counselors, which are helpful for in-depth understanding of the dreamer's inner world and are of great significance for solving psychological problems.
