Objective To investigate the current situation of college students’ loneliness, investigate the related factors affecting college students’ loneliness, and provide theoretical basis and countermeasures to alleviate college students’ loneliness. Methods A self-developed questionnaire and UCLA Loneliness Scale were used to measure the survey of college students in a university of Chinese medicine, and SPSS23.0 was used to statistically analyze the data. Results The loneliness scores of students in the University of Chinese Medicine were 45.55±8.71, and there were significant differences in the level of loneliness among students with or without foster care experience and family atmosphere. The results of the post-hoc test showed that the loneliness experienced by the students who were single was significantly higher than that of the students who were in a relationship. There is a significant correlation between college students’ foster care experience and family atmosphere and loneliness. Conclusion The loneliness of students in the University of Chinese Medicine is generally at the upper middle level, and the loneliness of college students is greatly related to the experience of foster care, family atmosphere, and intimate relationship, which can be improved from the four levels of society, school, family and individual.
