Exploring the Path of College Students’ Mental Health Development in the Post-epidemic Era —Based on a Questionnaire Survey of 8,764 Students during the Epidemic Period
Objective: To understand the mental health status of college students during the COVID-19 pandemic in order to enhance their psychological adjustment abilities and provide fundamental data and intellectual support for schools to develop effective psychological intervention programs. Methods: An online questionnaire survey was conducted on 8,764 undergraduates in a provincial university in Shandong in terms of personal information, physical and mental conditions, and daily life during the epidemic. Results: (1) Undergraduates were generally concerned about the epidemic, but there were deficiencies in their awareness; (2) Mood was generally positive and healthy, but some groups such as students in Hubei showed higher levels of anxiety and depression; (3) During the epidemic, undergraduates’ outings were reduced, and their awareness of prevention and control was significantly increased. Conclusion: Although college students showed some psychological adjustment ability during the epidemic, their mental health still needs continuous attention. Colleges and universities should strengthen mental health education, provide diversified psychological support services, and comprehensively promote the development of college students’ mental health through the curriculum system, activities, and crisis intervention.
