Objective: Based on the theory of Objectification, to explore the relationship between Selfediting and Appearance Anxiety in female college students, and the mediating role of Self-objectification in them. Methods: 336 female college students [average age (20±2) years old] in a domestic university were selected as the research objects, and the Self-editing questionnaire, Objectified Body Consciousness Scale (OBCS) and the Social Appearance Anxiety Scale (SAAS) were used to measure the results. Results: The Appearance Anxiety of female college students is different in urban and rural areas, and the score of Appearance Anxiety of urban female college students is higher than that of rural female college students. The results of correlation analysis showed that the individual and group dimensions of Self-editing were positively correlated with Self-objectification. There was a positive correlation between Self-objectification and Appearance Anxiety. The results of mediation analysis showed that Self-objectification played a mediating role between individual Selfie-editing and Appearance Anxiety as well as between group Selfieediting and Appearance Anxiety. Conclusion: (1)The Appearance Anxiety level of urban female college students is higher than that of rural female college students. (2)Self-objectification plays a mediating role between Self-editing and Appearance Anxiety of female college students.
