Current Situation and Characteristics of Ethnic Fusion Attitude and the Sense of Community for the Chinese Nation of College Students in Ethnic Areas —Taking Five Colleges and Universities in the Ethnic Areas of Yunnan as an Example
Purpose: To investigate the current situation of ethnic fusion attitudes and the sense of community for the Chinese nation of college students in five colleges and universities in ethnic areas of Yunnan, to analyze the influence of ethnic fusion attitudes on the sense of community for the Chinese nation, to explore the practical path to optimize the casting of the sense of community for the Chinese nation from the perspective of ethnic fusion attitudes, and to improve the practical effect of colleges and universities in ethnic areas in the education of the sense of community for the Chinese nation. Methods: One hundred and five students from five colleges and universities in the ethnic areas of Yunnan were surveyed using the Ethnic Fusion Attitude Scale and the Sense of Community for the Chinese Nation Scale to explore the relationship between the ethnic fusion attitude and the Sense of Community for the Chinese Nation by using descriptive statistics, t-tests, analysis of variance (ANOVA), correlation analyses, and regression analyses. Results: (1) The dimensions and their total mean scores of the Ethnic Fusion Attitude Scale and the Sense of Community for the Chinese Nation Scale of college students in ethnic areas were all higher than the theoretical median of 3 points (p=0.000); (2) There was no significant difference between students of different genders and grades in the scores of Ethnic Intercourse Attitude and Chinese National Community Awareness Scale, but there was a significant difference between the Han nationality students (M±SD=4.31±0.74) and ethnic minority students (M±SD=4.20±0.74) in the scores of Ethnic Fusion Attitude Scale (t=2.40, p<0.05); (3) There is a significant positive correlation (r=0.84, p<0.01) between the two variables and their dimensions of the sense of community for the Chinese nation, and the attitude of ethnic fusion can better predict the sense of community for the Chinese nation. Conclusion: (1) College students in ethnic area colleges and universities have better attitudes toward ethnic fusion and the sense of community for the Chinese nation; (2) Han nationality students in ethnic area colleges and universities have more positive attitudes toward ethnic fusion than ethnic minority students; (3) The more positive the attitudes toward ethnic fusion of college students in ethnic area colleges and universities are, the stronger the sense of community for the Chinese nation is; (4) We can improve the practical path of forging a strong sense of community for the Chinese nation by improving the attitude of ethnic fusion, including deepening the construction of the curriculum of forging a strong sense of community for the Chinese nation, carrying out a wide range of activities of ethnic exchanges, exchanges and exchanges and improving the mode of management of the campuses of colleges and universities in ethnic areas.
