Born Internally: The Internal Motivation and Guiding Path of Adolescent Idol Worship in the “Celebrity Fan Clubs” —From the Perspective of Psychological Defense Mechanisms
Under the background of the rapid development of the Internet, the prevalence of “celebrity fan clubs culture” has had a certain negative impact on the online social ecology and physical and mental growth of young people in China. The idol worship of “celebrity fan clubs” young people has formed a new academic proposition. This study starts from the perspective of psychological defense mechanisms in psychodynamics and combines previous empirical studies to explore the internal motivations of idol worship among “celebrity fan clubs” teenagers. It sorts out five psychological defense mechanisms that initiate idol worship in “celebrity fan clubs” teenagers, namely compensation for attachment, fantasy of romantic relationships, projection of ideal selves, identification with group identity, and release of pressure. Based on this, a guiding path for the idol worship of teenagers in the “celebrity fan clubs” is generated, which includes establishing good attachment relationships, establishing correct love values, integrating and resonating with role model education and idol worship, empowering the “celebrity fan clubs” group with positive forces, and unblocking and creating various pressure relief channels.
