Objective: To explore the mediating role of belongingness and the meaning in life between social exclusion and cooperative behavior. Methods: 638 college students were tested on Social Exclusion Experience Scale, the Cooperation Subscale of the Cooperativeness and Competitiveness Personality Scale, the General Belongingness Scale, and the Meaning in Life Questionnaire. Results: There is a significant correlation between social exclusion, belongingness, the meaning in life and cooperative behavior; the mediating effects of belongingness and meaning in life on the relationship between social exclusion and cooperative behavior are significant; The chain intermediary effect of belongingness and the meaning in life are also significant. Conclusion: Social exclusion can influence cooperative behavior indirectly through the mediation of belongingness and the meaning in life.
