This study utilized the Self-Esteem Scale, Psychological Resilience Scale, and the Brief SymptomInventory 18 (BSI-18) to investigate 1511 freshmen in college, aiming to explore the relationship betweenself-esteem, psychological resilience, and mental health among these students. In this study, we hope tooffer some references for the school’s mental health education efforts. The results revealed that there isa significant negative correlation between self-esteem and anxiety/ depression/ somatization; similarly, psychological resilience is significantly negatively correlated with anxiety/ depression/ somatization.Psychological resilience partially mediates the relationship between self-esteem and anxiety, as well asbetween self-esteem and depression, but its mediating role is not significant between self-esteem andsomatization. These findings offer guidance for improving the mental health levels of college students, especially in alleviating anxiety and depression.
