“Cat-sniffing” is a youth subculture phenomenon that has become popular on the Internetin recent years, reflecting a highly unique emotional appeal among contemporary young people. Thecurrent study aims to explore the dimensions of “cat-sniffing” feelings and develop the correspondingmeasurement instrument. Through two rounds of surveys targeting undergraduate and graduate students,a 14-item “cat-sniffing” feelings questionnaire has been successfully developed. The results indicated thatthe “cat-sniffing” feelings consisted of three dimensions: healing and smoothing, loneliness relief, as wellas pleasure and happiness. The questionnaire developed has good reliability and validity in line with therequirements of psychometrics and is suitable for measuring the emotional level of “cat-sniffing” in youngadults.
