As school bullying research has attracted increasing attention, we review the progress in
the development of school bullying in China over the past two decades, clarify the problems with the
definition of bullying behavior currently in use, as well as consider in depth the heterogeneity of bullying
measurement methods, and elaborate on the factors influencing bullying behavior in order to gain more
consensus on the study of bullying behavior. The aim is to document the current domestic understanding
of the complexity of bullying in schools and the use of measurement methods, to provide a comprehensive
review of current bullying research in order to promote validity and compatibility of bullying research,
and to inform the direction of future bullying research and intervention efforts.
