Objective: To explore the influence of awe on suicidal ideation and its mechanism. Methods: A
sample of 751 college students was recruited to complete Dispositional Positive Emotion Scale, Meaning
in Life Questionnaire, Resilience Scale for Chinese Adolescent and Positive and Negative Suicide Ideation
.Results :(1)awe was significantly positively correlated with meaning in life and resilience (r=0.41, 0.30),
while suicidal ideation was significantly negatively correlated with awe, meaning in life and resilience
(r=-0.35, -0.44, -0.57); (2) awe had a direct effect on suicidal ideation, with three pathways: first, the
independent mediation of meaning in life, with an effect amount of 22.86%, second, the independent
mediation of resilience, with an effect amount of 17.14%, and third, the chain mediating effect of meaning
in life and resilience, with an effect amount of 20.00%. Conclusion: Awe influences suicidal ideation not
only directly, but also indirectly through meaning in life and resilience.
