Objective: This study focuses on the relationship between different proactive personality,
positive and negative emotions and boring coping styles of medical students. Method: A total of 300
college students from Chengde Medical College were selected to use the active personality questionnaire
(PANAS), the Chinese version of the emotional self rating scale (PANAS) and the boredom coping
strategy questionnaire. The questionnaire was used to collect the data and eliminate the invalid
questionnaire. Finally, the statistical analysis was carried out. Results: Medical students’ initiative
personality is related to the way of coping with boredom. People with high initiative personality have
positive correlation with the way of boredom coping; people with low initiative personality have negative
correlation with the way of boring coping. Positive and negative emotions of medical students are related
to boredom. There is a positive correlation between positive emotions and boredom coping styles, and
negative emotions are negatively correlated with boredom coping styles. Conclusion: Medical students’
different proactive personality, positive and negative emotions are related to the way of boredom coping.
