Objective: To survey the current situation and characteristics of college students’ perfectionist
personality, negative body self and aggressive behavior, and to explore the relationship among them
and their influence mechanism. Methods: A total of 318 college students were investigated by using
the Chinese version of Frost Multidimensional Perfectionism Scale, the Adolescent negative body self
scale, and the Aggressive behavior questionnaire. The statistical data obtained through questionnaire
was analyzed using SPSS24.0. Results: (1) College students’ perfectionist personality has significantly
positively correlated with negative body self and aggressive behavior (r=0.37, p<0.01; r=0.61, p<0.01);
There is a significant positive correlation between negative body self and aggressive behavior (r=0.48,
p<0.01); (2) Negative body self plays a part of mediating role in the prediction of aggressive behavior by
perfectionist personality, and the mediating effect accounts for 49.4% of the total effect. Conclusion: The
results show that there is a significantly correlation among college students’ perfectionist personality and
negative body self and aggressive behavior, and negative body self has a mediating effect in the prediction
of aggressive behavior by perfectionist personality.
