By clarifying the status quo of non-sexual dual relationships in psychological counseling and
psychotherapy in China, it is found that the psychological counselors/therapists have the characteristics
of low degree of certainty, coexistence of controversy and consistency in the ethical consciousness of
non-sexual dual relationship, and unavoidable in ethical behavior. In this regard, the article analyzes the
possible reasons, which are: the influence of the cultural concept of “relationship-based”; the lack and
failure of professional ethics standards; the personal reasons of the counselors / therapists.
