In order to investigate the relationship between gender role and love satisfaction of college students and the mediating effect of empathy, 500 undergraduate students who had love experience were tested anonymously using Chinese College Students’ Sex-Role Inventory: 50 items, Interpersonal Reactivity Index-C and the Quality of Relationship. The results showed that the gender role of college students was still in the stage of perfection, and their empathy and love satisfaction were generally moderate and slightly above average. The college students’ gender role, and empathy had positive predictive effects on love satisfaction. Furthermore, perspective taking played a part of mediating role in the relationship between masculinity and love satisfaction; empathy played a part of mediating role in the relationship between gender role and love satisfaction. Conclusion: Gender role not only can affect love satisfaction directly, but also affect love satisfaction through empathy indirectly.
