Objective: To investigate the overall situation of nurses’ job burnout, the differences of job
burnout in various hospitals and the reasons in Qingdao. Methods: A total of 1287 nurses in various
hospitals in Qingdao were investigated by using Chinese version of Nurse Burnout Scale (NBS). Results:
Use the diagnostic cut-off value of the Nurse Burnout Scale (NBS): ≤140.5 for no or very slight job
burnout, 140.6~160.4 for mild and moderate job burnout, ≥160.5 for severe job burnout. The detection
rate of mild and moderate job burnout nurses was 29.4%, and the detection rate of severe job burnout
nurses was 11.4%. Conclusion: The overall situation of job burnout in Qingdao is good, but there are
many nurses with severe job burnout. The high job burnout is mainly related to the title, age, daily contact
time with patients, daily exercise time and hospital type.
