Depression is one of the major causes of disability worldwide. Internet and computer-based
intervention (IBIS) have been proved to provide effective and scalable treatment forms. This paper summarizes
the application of computer technology as an alternative or auxiliary means of standard treatment in depression
treatment, and discusses the advantages and disadvantages of introducing computer technology as a treatment
option, the problems and obstacles in its popularization, the types of computer-assisted psychotherapy for
depression, and related research. To provide suggestions for medical staff who consider applying computer-aided
treatment to depression.
