A Corpus-Based Study on the Translation of Political Terms with Chinese Characteristics in External Publicity Texts—Taking the Government Work Report from 2020-2022 as an Example
This paper analyzes the political terms with Chinese characteristics in the 2020-2022 Government Work Report by building a corpus. This paper examines the current translation status of the high-frequency verbs and nouns in Report, and explores the cultural reason. It was found that a verb in the publicity text could be translated into multiple types of English verbs, or left untranslated. The reason is that the characteristics of Chinese vocabulary and the cultural differences between Chinese and English. Most of the nouns in publicity texts are translated directly, which indicates that some Chinese policies have been accepted by the public and become part of the culture, which is also one of the manifestations of China’s national strength.
