• 摘要： 本文运用新历史主义观对《在美国》的主题、人物形象和叙事特点等三个方面进行研究，分析了苏珊·桑塔格在处理历史、文学和文化复杂关系的高超技术。本文着重分析了《在美国》的多重主题，突出了苏珊·桑塔格的社会批判精神和对乌托邦理想的追求；重点讨论了《在美国》中的两类人物形象——女性角色和男性角色，阐释了新历史主义中颠覆与重塑的概念，突出作品中对于女性身份的自我追求和对男性权力的消解；通过对作品中视角转换和不同叙事形式的分析，揭示了桑塔格参与作品构造进而直接参与历史这一现象，突出了新历史主义中的“大历史”与“小历史”的关系。
• This paper is to analyze In America from the perspective of New Historicism, with its body part comprising three aspects, namely multiple themes, feminist features of characterization and narrative features. Sontag’s sense of social criticism, her Utopian ideal can be detected through the detailed analysis of its multiple themes; her feminism comes into sight with the discussion of the female as well as male characters in this book.What’s more, changeable and uncertain historical narratives provide more possibilities to interpret this work. Conclusion is drawn that Sontag with her fresh view and discourse reinterprets history demonstrating the spirit of New Historicism.
