Based on Eugene A. Nida’s classification of culture, this study focuses on the secondary cultural filtering in the translation of classics under rewriting theory and takes Fu Huisheng’s The Zhou Book of Change (under Zhang Shanwen’s modern Chinese translation) as an example. According to the rewriting theory put forward by Andre Lefevere, the study explores the influence of ideology, poetics and patronage on cultural filtering, providing new thoughts for translation studies of classics and contributing to the spread of Chinese classics.
