• Abstract: 新型冠状病毒肺炎疫情自 2020 年初暴发以来，一直都是各国媒体关注的焦点。 面对积极抗击疫情的中国，美国媒体仍炒作“武汉实验室泄露论”。本研究以美国媒体对新冠病毒溯源——“实验室泄露论”报道为语料，从情态系统对新闻报道进行批评话语分析，分析其背后隐藏的意识形态意义。
• Since the outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic in early 2020, it has always been the focus of media in various countries. When China is actively fighting against the pandemic, American media still hype the “lab leak hypothesis”. A critical discourse analysis will be conducted on the news coverage of COVID19’s origin － “lab leak hypothesis” from the dimension of modality and to analyze the hidden western intent and ideology.
