Publicity materials are an important way for countries around the
world to understand China’s development strategy and major policies. It
contains a large number of Chinese four-character phrases, which put high
demands on the translator when translating. From the perspective of skopos
theory, we use literal translation, free translation, literal annotation, omission
and paraphrase to study the English translation of four-character phrases, so as
to provide reference for related English translation propaganda.
