Course books compiling is always lagged behind the development of business English writing, due to the lack of unified guiding documents such as teaching syllabus. In 2015 and 2017, the National Criterion of Teaching quality of Undergraduate Business English Program and the National Test for Business English Majors Band 4 and Band 8 were lunched respectively, providing guidance and specifications for compiling business English writing course books. Based on the criteria and requirements of these documents, this paper has collected the writing course books from 2000 to 2018, found that the main contents are not covered by these documents, materials are not situational, intertextual, and authentic. Therefore, the courses books may be improved by setting its contents scientifically, showing the materials in situation and inter-text, choosing materials from authentic business activities and fully use of online resources.
