Subject serves as the starting point of an utterance as well as information transmission. The identification and translation of the subject plays a significant role in the Chinese-English Translation. The present paper explores the mechanism of subject choice as well as its motivation based on the comparative parallel text of the Work of the Government Report in 2020. The combination of qualitative and quantitative analysis finds that communication needs enjoys the priority and whether objectivity is required determines the appropriate choice of the subject in English translation.
