The masterpiece of British novelist Charles Dickens, David Copperfield,
has been published in China with more than 20 versions. In this paper, I choose
the translations from Dong Qiusi and Zhang Guruo as corpus. Firstly, it proves the
feasibility of the translator’s subjectivity theory through deconstruction; secondly,
it criticizes and appreciates the two translations from the perspective of translator’s
subjectivity, and focuses on the three characteristics of the translator’s subjectivityinitiative, passivity and self-center. I will analyze and compare the two translators’
translation styles through specific translation cases.
