According to the characteristics of the research object, this paper combs the research of executive characteristics according to demographic characteristics and physiological characteristics, and finds that the current mainstream of executive characteristics research is still demographic characteristics, but the research ofphysiological characteristics has quietly risen. The physiological characteristicsinherited by senior executives have two mechanisms: external social perception and internal physiological function, but at the same time, the physiological characteristics also have the problems of strong endogeneity and low interpretability; however, the research of demographic characteristics and physiological characteristics is the same as corporate governance behavior and financial behavior. The current situation that demographic and physiological characteristics are competing explanations for each other in the study of executive characteristics will continue to be maintained.
This paper puts aside the specific details of the research on executive characteristics, summarizes the characteristics, problems and development directions of current research from the perspective of discipline development, aiming at promoting the frontier research in related fields.
