As the “father of educational sociology”,Durkheim devoted his whole life
to the research of sociology and pedagogy. He proposed the construction of scientific
and rational sociology, and defined “social facts” as the cornerstone of the existence
of social phenomena. At the same time,Durkheim attached great importance to the
reconstruction of social moral order, and the spirit of discipline was the most basic
element of morality. This study attempts to understand the spirit of discipline from the
perspective of Durkheim's “social facts” and interpret the rationality and necessity of
the existence of the spirit of discipline as a moral fact,in order to establish an objective
and respectful attitude towards moral discipline and social norms. This awakens
modern society's emphasis on disciplinary education and shapes the individual's
independent discipline spirit.
