With the continuous advancement of globalization, global competence has emerged as a critical capability for addressing global challenges and has gradually become a significant research focus in the field of education. This paper systematically examines the theoretical origins, key components, and the evolution of related research and practices both domestically and internationally. Globally, countries such as the United States, Canada, and Finland have developed well-established theoretical frameworks and practical systems, providing diverse approaches and valuable insights for reference. In China, research in this area began relatively late but has achieved notable progress in recent years in terms of theoretical development, localization strategies, and policy implementation. Furthermore, practical explorations have been actively conducted in disciplinary education, vocational education, and higher education. Nevertheless, the current research still needs to be improved in the connection of education stages and the construction of evaluation system. Looking ahead, China needs to further enhance the cultivation of global competence to improve the international competitiveness of its talent pool, thereby effectively responding to the opportunities and challenges posed by globalization.
