This paper focuses on a case study of using the unique ethnic music genre of Dong ethnic songs in high school music appreciation courses for teaching during the senior year internship. The study selected the classic work “The Song of Cicadas” from the Dong ethnic group’s major songs as the main material for teaching content. Through practical operations and teaching feedback in the classroom, the application effect of Dong ethnic songs in music appreciation classes was explored. The research results indicate that by introducing the unique ethnic music form of Dong ethnic songs, students’ understanding of the diversity of world music can be expanded, and their appreciation ability and aesthetic taste can be enhanced. In addition, students have shown a positive attitude and interest in learning this ethnic music. Therefore, incorporating Dong ethnic songs into high school music appreciation courses has certain music education significance, which helps to enhance students’ auditory experience and music aesthetic level.
