To ensure that applied engineering talents meet the needs of national development, ideological and political education must be included in the curriculum. Taking the course of “Soil Pollution and Remediation” offered by the environmental engineering major of Chongqing University of Science and Technology as an example, this paper expounded the necessity of integrating ideological and political education into the course of soil pollution and remediation, focused on exploring the path of integrating professional education of soil pollution and remediation with ideological and political education, and further obtained useful insights from this course in ideological and political construction. It can provide reference for other courses of applied universities to carry out ideological and political construction, reform the education model and improve the level of talent training.
